About Elephants
"amazing and intelligent
animals"
Elephants are amazing animals to see in their own
environment. They are incredibly social creatures who have
lasting memories, and can communicate over long distances
through low range sound waves (infrasound). They show a
range of cognitive capabilities and social behaviour which
most people, especially those that benefit from using
elephants, would like to reserve for human beings.
"They are a large, funny
animal, and they seem to know when they have done
something dumb. They convey a sense of knowing how they
fit into the world." (J .Poole quoted in The
Fate Of The Elephant)
They are said to never forget and you do not have to look
very far to understand why. Here are a few resources you can
use to learn more about elephants -- the largest living land
mammals in the world.
